What do you, Bisbee Soap, and ancient apothecaries have in common? Candle making! It's super easy and fun to re-use those empty candle jars. We've got you covered with this kit:

  • 1 Cotton wick with sticker
  • 1 Clothespin (wick holder)
  • 1 Warning label
  • 7.5 oz Creosote soy blend wax
  • Detailed instructions

While this kit is easy and fun, we highly recommend reading over the instructions and warnings below carefully. We cannot guarantee the performance or safety of refilling a vessel other than one purchased from us. Visit this page for more tips.

Instructions

Our candle refills are created to refill candle jars purchased from Bisbee Soap and Sundry. We are not responsible for the performance or safety if refilling a vessel other than one purchased from us.

Instructions:

1. Start with an empty candle jar that has been cleaned and dried.
2. Remove lid from refill container, and remove the envelope from inside.
3. Remove contents from envelope and place the warning label on the underside of the jar.
4. Remove backing from the sticker on the wick.
5. Carefully stick the wick down in your jar. Make sure it’s centered! You can press it into place with a pencil or butter knife or another pointy instrument of your choice.
6. Melt the wax in the microwavable container it came in. 2 minutes seems to be the magic number. Microwave for 1 minute, stir gently, then microwave for 1 more minute and stir again. If the wax is still not melted, microwave for 30 seconds at a time.
-or-
The wax tends to shrink away from the container it comes it. You can slide the wax out of this container and transfer it to another microwave safe container of your choice. Follow microwaving instructions above.
7. Stir melted wax thoroughly then gently pour melted wax into your jar. Container may be hot--be careful!
8. Clip the clothespin onto the wick so that the wick is centered, and the clothespin is resting on top of the jar. You want a little bit of tension so the wick doesn’t float around.
9. Allow the wax to cool and harden.
10. Once the wax is completely cool (the jar should be cool to the touch), remove the clothespin and trim the wick with scissors or nail clippers to 1/8” - 1/4”. For best results, your candle should cure for 24 - 48 hours before lighting.

Smells Just Like the Desert After Rain

Two things:

1. These were the only candles I could find that were creosote only. They smell pure and fresh.

2. I appreciate that there are less expensive refills that fit right into my original candle jar. Less cost and less waste.

Creosote candle refill kit

So happy with this candle kit. It was very easy to use and the smell is spot on. I used some inexpensive glasses from a dollar store and it worked out perfect.

Not Overpowering and Refreshing

I ordered the Creosote candle refill kit not as a candle but for the scent to use on my candle warmer hot plate. I have a pretty ceramic pot in my guest bathroom and wanted a scented candle to place on the warmer to refresh the air. This is perfect! I melted the wax creosote scented wax in the microwave per the enclosed instructions and poured it into my ceramic pot. I keep the warmer on most all the time so it gives my guest bathroom a nice clean smell but not overly scented. This is a perfect solution for a room that sometimes smells musty because it is not used often. I also ordered the Vetiver scented one but have not used it yet. I will reorder these candle kits!

Best candle for everything

We love the creosote candle, and we love this easy way to refill our used candles. These refills are such a great thing to keep around the house in case you need a last-minute gift for someone in your life. It’s tough to not use them all, but these candles have come in handy as authentic, and Arizona-y gifts for friends and family.
