Yes! Each and every bar of soap sold by Bisbee Soap & Sundry is made by our soaper (and owner), Amber. She weighs, measures, pours, and mixes every batch. The soap is then cut, cured to perfection, then wrapped by hand.

Yes. All true soap is made with lye. Most big-brand, store-bought soap isn't true soap, but rather a chemical surfactant with additives. True soap is the final product resulting from a chemical reaction called saponification. Saponification occurs when a lye solution (sodium hydroxide for bar soap, or potassium hydroxide for liquid soap) is mixed with triglycerides (fat or oil). Once saponification is complete, the lye no longer remains and you're left with natural glycerin and soap.

There are two types of Creosote, and they are not at all related. If you've spent any significant time in the Southwest Desert, you'll be familiar with the plant commonly referred to as Creosote (Larrea Tridentata). Then there's the Creosote that's commonly associated with fence posts and railroad ties—not something you'd want to put on your skin. The Creosote we use and refer to is the plant. Desert dwellers have a bit of an obsession with this plant, as it reminds us of the brief period of monsoon rains we get in the summer. The Creosote plant emits a strong, earthy fragrance when it's wet, giving the desert rains their characteristic aroma. We've captured that essence in our line of Creosote products.

We use high-quality oils, butters, clays, and fragrance or essential oils—always chosen with purpose. Each product listing includes full ingredient transparency so you can shop with confidence.

Many of our products are gentle and well-tolerated by sensitive skin, but everyone's skin is different. We recommend reviewing the ingredient list and performing a patch test when trying something new.

Both. Some products are scented exclusively with essential oils, while others include carefully chosen fragrance oils. Each product listing notes which is used.

It began with one of those big, bold ideas that falls out of your mouth before you've fully thought it through—but you know you have to follow it. That idea turned into a small shop space in Bisbee, Arizona, with a tiny workshop in the back and a determination to create something meaningful by hand. From the very beginning, every bar of soap was made from scratch, every label designed with care, every shelf stocked with intention. What started as a gut feeling has grown into a place where the ordinary is transformed into something sacred—one handmade object at a time.

This varies by location, of course. Orders are usually shipped within 2 business days of payment. In the unlikely event that one of your items is out of stock, we'll contact you about a replacement or refund. Orders ship Monday through Saturday, and you'll receive an email with tracking info once your order is on the way. (Tracking info may take 24 hours to update.)

Yes! If you're local or visiting Bisbee, you can select local pickup at checkout. We'll notify you when your order is ready.

Absolutely. Just enter the recipient's name and shipping address at checkout. You can also include a note—we'll print it and tuck it inside the package (no pricing info included).

We want you to be happy with your purchase. If you're not, contact us within 14 days of receiving your order. We'll work with you on a return, exchange, or store credit as appropriate. Open or used items may not qualify for return, especially for scent-related reasons.
