Our Latest Creations

We've been brewing up not just one, but two fresh new lines. And one of them happens to be something you've been requesting for a long, long time.

So, what's cookin'? Shampoo bars, and an ultra-luxe line of stunning candles.

We've spent countless hours, days, and nights dedicated to crafting these. No shortcuts, no rush jobs. Just meticulous research, planning and development. It's been so hard to keep these a secret.

Product development isn't just about formulas, although that's definitely the most important part. Also involved is packaging, and refining production so that we're working smarter, not harder, to bring you exciting new things. Packaging design, for both these new lines, came relatively smoothly. We knew before we'd even gotten our hands dirty exactly what we wanted the end products to look like. That part was easy.

Formulation has taken a bit more energy. And if you're a close friend or family member, you likely got a random text inquiring about your current hair status, and then received a mysterious package in the mail several days later with instructions to lather up and report back. The perks of knowing your local soap maker.

The hardest part has been developing a method to streamline making the shampoo bars. The first test runs were pressed by hand. One at a time. As you can imagine, that was super labor and time intensive. We know from experience that if a product is this tedious and laborious, we won't be able to keep up with demand. So, that's where we're at right now. The formula is perfect. We, and our friends, love it. Now we just need to figure out how to crank out more than one at a time. Sure, we could go with a standard cookie-cutter mold that everyone else uses. But you know that isn't our style. Amber has dedicated her last several weekends to this task, and hopes to have a solution within the next few weeks.

That job has involved:

  • A refresher in drafting
  • Several minor flesh wounds
  • Approximately 1 quart of silicone
  • Ample expletives
  • 17 prototype mold designs

Developing the candles has been a little bit different. Our wax blend is great, no formulation changes needed there. However, choosing and blending the scents has been a test. We have 3 nailed down for sure (you're going to love them), but we're aiming for 6. That process has gone something like this:
  • Creating an absolutely perfect blend that smelled amazing in development but did not translate to candles well at all
  • Sourcing a gazillion scent notes
  • Sniffing a gazillion scent notes
  • Rejecting most of those scent notes

All this to say, we're getting there! We'll keep you posted. And in the meantime, let us know what you think.
