Looking back, I guess he meant well, but it wasn't exactly the pep talk I needed. Yet, if you know me, you know there's nothing I enjoy more than proving someone wrong when they underestimate me. Perhaps it traces back to a pivotal tennis match in the 6th grade, but that's a tale for another time.
Fast forward five years, and here we still stand proudly at 25 Main St. We weathered the move (followed by the whirlwind of purchasing a house and relocating our personal belongings just two weeks later), braved a global pandemic, navigated through recession and exorbitant inflation, and tackled a slew of other unexpected obstacles. Yet, from where I stand, everything remains as good as ever. So, here's a nod of gratitude to that acquaintance at the bar, for igniting the flames of determination within us to succeed against all odds.

5 years ago, Mark and I were on a frantic mission to shift our store from its original spot to the thriving location it calls home today. After a grueling day of cleaning, scrubbing, hauling, and preparing for the transition, we decided to unwind with a well-deserved beer.
Amidst casual conversation at the bar, an acquaintance inquired about the new location, and brimming with enthusiasm, I described it as perfect—a true turning point for our humble shop. However, he smirked and stated, "It's all good until it isn't." He then proceeded to inundate me with unsolicited financial advice while my eyes glazed over and my glass seemingly emptied itself.

I visited your store for the first time a few weeks ago with my daughter. It was the main reason for the trip. I blew my budget! I’ve purchased online and also been gifted your soaps and candles but actually being there was special. Vetiver lotion and candle smell like an expensive spa. Oh and the creosote candle brings the scent of monsoon rain in the desert. Best wishes for continued success!
