Bisbee Soap & Sundry

The interior of 74 Main St., Bisbee Soap & Sundry, in preparation for opening day

Stress was high and Mark finally threw in the towel. He was done with the industry, and I didn’t blame him in the least. Suddenly unemployed, Mark was concerned about the future.

One night, we were rattling around the kitchen, and Mark asks, "What are we going to do?"

Immediately and out of nowhere, I respond, "Let's open a soap store!" (In retrospect, that thought must have been dancing around my subconscious since Aunt Michelle's "care package" arrived, because it came out so naturally, and I never second-guessed it.)
"Think about it," I added, "downtown Bisbee! It's perfect!"

Mark, being Mark, was already on board and hit the ground running...

By the following afternoon he'd pinned down a spot for our store, 74 Main Street, in the heart of Old Bisbee.

All the pieces were falling together...
