The following night at the bar was quiet; there were a few scattered customers and time was moving slowly. I caught the door opening out of the corner of my eye, and there he was again.
I remember feeling a bit timid given our awkward encounter the night before, but he quickly put me at ease when he walked up to the bar, extended his hand to shake mine, and introduced himself by his full name - Mark Pierce.
He sat down at the bar, and I poured him a beer.
Without live music and the crowd from the night before, we were able to actually have a conversation that we could both hear. We talked about various things including music and travel and the conversation flowed freely and comfortably. I didn't get the feeling that he was trying to hit on me, or impress me at all. There was just an easy chemistry between us.
As the week passed, I start to notice a pattern. Either I happened to be working at Mark's favorite bar, or he was coming in to see me...
